My Yes

No wind on my face

No sand in my toes
No figure I trace
No scent of a rose

No sweat on my lip
No fleet turn of phrase
No swing of my hip
No twist in this maze

No hiss of the sea
No rent in my soul
No towering tree
No wing I unfold

No anger unbound
No road without end
No treasure unfound
No thing I defend

No mother so fierce
No father so mild
No hopes they have pierced
No dreams of this child

No pounding of heart
No terror of mind
No true or false start
No refuge I find

No hunger so deep
No wishes fulfilled
No harvest I reap
No blood I have spilled

No clamouring night
No whispering star
No shattering light
No call from afar

No depth of despair
No pleasure compare
To the one I caress
With the touch of my “Yes”
